Rem Koolhaas and OMA - the architect and the architecture firm behind Bryghusprojektet

One of the world's most influential and internationally recognised architects; the Dutchman Rem Koolhaas, and his architecture firm OMA, is behind the project at Bryghusgrunden.

OMA/AMO

Office for Metropolitan Architecture, OMA is a Dutch architectural firm, founded by Rem Koolhaas, Elia and Zoe Zenghelis and Madelon Vriesendorp in 1975.

The architectural firm has set up a think-tank AMO, which focuses on social, economic and technological issues.

Rem Koolhaas

Rem Koolhaas is a qualified architect from the Architectural Association in London. He is the co-founder and daily manager of OMA as well as the think-tank of the architectural firm AMO.

Rem Koolhaas also works as a professor at Harvard University in the USA, where he runs the research programme "Project on the City" which examines changing urban conditions worldwide.

Rem Koolhas is considered one of the most important thinkers of recent decades because of his OMA/AMO combination.

Nicolai Ouroussoff, reporter for the Los Angeles and New York Times, adds "Only few people would question the intellect of Rem Koolhaas - he has long been considered as one of the most audacious thinkers of the architectural world. However, in Casa da Musica which is one of his most recent projects, we see something new from him - a building of such intellectual intensity that it matches its sensual beauty." (International Herald Tribune, 9-10. April 2005).
